The September edition of the BeeLines newsletter is available online. It includes information about the Honey Booth at the State Fair, regulations related to setting up a honey house, the State Apiarist’s report, upcoming competitions and grants, and much more. Past BeeLine newsletters can be downloaded from the Kentucky Department of Agriculture’s website or from the KSBA Educational Resources for Beekeepers webpage.
Note: After this month’s BeeLine’s was published, Tammy Horn Potter sent the following update.
“In the September BeeLines we encouraged everyone to have his or her honey analyzed by Vaughn M. Bryant, Ph.D. at his palynology lab at Texas A&M University. We have received word that Dr. Bryant has suffered a serious health-related setback that is expected to keep him sidelined for a considerable time.
Kentucky State Apiarist Dr. Tammy Potter is awaiting word from another lab on helping Kentucky beekeepers get their honey pollen analyzed. We will update everyone as soon as those arrangements are in place.
We convey our appreciation for Dr. Bryant’s decades of service that earned accolades from his professional association and benefited beekeepers in Kentucky and nationwide. We also join his colleagues in wishing him well during this time.”
