As 2019 comes to an end, I would like to thank you for all your support to the Certified Kentucky Honey Producers. It is also time to renew your membership if you have not already done so. 2019 has been a productive year for the program. We have enrolled 108 producers (representing 51 counties), 1,690 hives and accounted for 32,775 lbs. of honey for the 2018 year. Additionally, the KSBA Board has reached over 2000 beekeepers through Bee Club meetings (52, some multiple times) and Bee schools (13). The Kentucky State Beekeepers Association is in need of a volunteer to act as Legislative Agent for the association. The agent monitors any actions pending in the Kentucky General Assembly that could impact beekeepers and keeps the KSBA informed. On occasions, the agent may contact legislators to seek legislative action or insure that legislators are aware of how pending matters may affect beekeepers. There are websites and informational tracking tools that assist the agent in awareness of these matters.
