Attendance: 15 (12 voting and 2 non-voting members),
Meeting was held through web teleconference due to restrictions on “face-to-face meetings” caused by the pandemic COVID-19.
Association President Tom Ballinger called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. (EST)
Minutes from Nov 6 and 7 were distributed to the board members. Motion to approve minutes by Mike Mabry, seconded by Leonard Davis. Approved for dissemination to KSBA members and will be posted on website.
The association will table raising the price of membership from current $15.00 to $25.00. The membership fees have been trickling in and will cause two different sets of prices for members. Also in consideration was the economic impact due to COVID-19. The association, under recommendation by the treasurer, will be tabled until KSBA have a better situation awareness of potential external source of revenue and the global pandemic.
Wes Henry, former treasurer, and Jan Rafert, current treasurer, have successfully transferred all account access to US Bank and source documents to function seamlessly as KSBA treasurer.
Joe Taylor was nominated to fill in a vacancy for Vice President. Motion by Dr Tammy Horn-Potter, seconded by Jan Rafert.
Rick LeMarr talked about the video library that will be archived and maintained on our KSBA website. Some of the content will be the Beginner Beekeeping Course instructed by Phil Craft. You can access through our website under “KSBA Online Learning”.
The PO Box in Elizabethtown will be close on December 31, 2020. All KSBA correspondence will be received at PO Box 636 Lawrenceburg, KY 40342.
Due to staff retirement, the Beelines will be transferred from Kentucky Department of Agriculture’s State Apiarist office to KSBA. The secretary will maintain The Beelines until a graphic designer can be hired, but the need for a content editor still remains. The State Apiarist Tammy Potter will continue to assist until this transition is complete.
Sarah Preston, KCHP Manager, will resign her KSBA employment effective December 31, 2020, and has accepted a position with the state of Kentucky. The recommendation is to find a replacement with a marketing background to help market the program.
Leonard Davis stated that EAS is probably canceling in-person conference in Massachusetts this year. EAS is looking for a sponsor location to potentially host as an alternate site from Massachusetts. Update: The Massachusetts EAS team has decided to host a virtual conference as of Jan.7, 2021.
